Challenges of the customer

The employees in the car manufacturer’s production facilities (blue collar workers) had no access to the intranet.

As a result
– employees were cut off from the internal flow of information.
– communication between employees was restricted.
– employee loyalty was negatively affected.

The aim was therefore to give production employees access to the intranet via the Flip app.

Our approach

The deep integration of the Power Platform with SharePoint allows simple and structured access to data in SharePoint. A custom connector is used to forward the data prepared for the mobile layout to the social intranet. By incorporating Power BI, it was also possible to display complex SharePoint functionalities such as linking pages (including authorization management, e.g. blacklists of links) completely within the social intranet. This means that employees no longer have to leave the app.

Development of the Power Automate connector

This connector has been specially designed to extract relevant data from the SharePoint intranet and make it available for the Flip app. Security requirements were taken into account to ensure the protection of sensitive information.

Creation of power flows

Power Flows have been configured to control the automated data flow. These flows ensure that selected content from the intranet is transferred to the Flip app in real time. The flows were designed in such a way that they can react flexibly to changes in the intranet without requiring manual adjustments.

Integration into the Flip app

The Flip app was adapted accordingly in order to efficiently display the data provided via Power Automate. Care was taken to ensure that the user interface remains intuitive and that production employees can find the information they need quickly.

Test and optimization

Before the final rollout, the solution was implemented in a test environment and subjected to extensive testing. This included both the technical functionality and the user-friendliness of the app. Final optimizations were made based on the feedback from the tests.
