Challenges of the customer

G. Baumgartner AG was about to replace its existing time recording system in favor of the more modern HR360 human resource software.

The aim of the project was to migrate HR data and set up an HR data model for evaluations. This included the complete and verifiably correct migration of all historical master and booking data into the new HR system, as well as the modeling and development of an HR data warehouse (DWH). The main requirement: a trustworthy database in the new system, without manual post-processing, as the basis for reliable, automated evaluations.

Our approach

From HR data migration to the BI structure: we have transformed complex legacy structures into a high-performance, auditable system – data-driven and scalable.

Analysis of existing evaluations and data structures

The starting point was existing Excel evaluations, SQL queries, data schemas and metrics that accessed the time booking system to be replaced. These were reconstructed to enable comparisons with the new system.

Validation and anomaly detection in the target system

After the data migration to the new HR360 system, the data was compared and automatically evaluated and compared. This revealed, for example, deviations due to multiple imports of individual postings, unadjusted cost types that should not be migrated and missing field assignments in the export configuration. The data records were identified and systematically cleansed.

Development of a data warehouse to automate the audit

A data warehouse was set up on Microsoft SQL Server with SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) in order to standardize and accelerate the audit processes and for the long-term use of the data. Aggregations and defined metrics and KPIs enabled a stable evaluation basis for controlling.

Optimization & conversion of existing reports

The previous evaluations, e.g. the time balance evaluation, were revised, connected to the new DWH and redesigned in close coordination with the HR and accounting department. Queries now run much more efficiently and offer an integrated view.
